According to Wccftech, Chinese PC case manufacturer Abee has launched its first mini PC called the AI Station 395 Max for $2,524. The cube-shaped device measures 199x199x199mm and features a flagship Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor with 16 cores and 32 threads based on Zen 5 architecture. It comes with an enormous 128 GB of LPDDR5X memory running at 8000 MT/s and includes 2 TB of SSD storage. The system uses custom water cooling for thermal management and includes a built-in 400W power supply with a 10-pin ATX12VO design that claims to reduce idle power consumption by up to 27%. For connectivity, it offers dual LAN ports with 2.5G and 10G options plus multiple USB4 Type C and Type A ports.
Why this matters
Here’s the thing – we’re seeing a fascinating trend where specialized hardware manufacturers are jumping into complete system building. Abee’s been making cases and fans for years, but now they’re putting together the whole package. And they’re not just throwing together any old components – they’re targeting the AI workstation market specifically with that insane 128GB of RAM.
Basically, this isn’t your typical mini PC for home theater or casual gaming. That memory configuration is pure overkill for 99% of users. But for AI developers and researchers working with large models locally? It’s actually pretty sensible. The water cooling solution in such a compact form factor shows they’re serious about performance consistency too.
Broader trend
Look at what’s happening across the industry. We’re seeing this convergence where companies that used to stick to their lane – case makers, component manufacturers – are now building complete AI-focused systems. Abee already provided the chassis for Maxsun’s AI Workstation that could handle multiple GPUs. Now they’re going direct to consumers with their own branded solution.
And the timing is interesting. With AMD’s Zen 5 architecture and integrated RDNA 3.5 graphics, you’re getting respectable AI performance without needing discrete GPUs. For certain workloads, that massive system RAM might be more valuable than having a separate graphics card. It’s a different approach to the AI hardware problem.
Market position
At $2,524, this isn’t exactly an impulse buy. But compared to building a similar system from scratch with comparable specs? It might actually be competitive, especially considering the custom water cooling and compact design. The question is whether there are enough professionals who need this specific combination of power and portability.
I think we’ll see more of these specialized mini workstations popping up. As AI development becomes more democratized, there’s growing demand for powerful but space-efficient systems. Abee’s betting that their case design expertise gives them an edge in thermal management and build quality. Whether that translates to commercial success? That’s the real test.
